A Polio Team vaccinators were attacked in Bajaur agency’s Mamoond district. A remote controlled bomb was detonated when their car passed by leaving 2 people dead and 3 injured. The injured were admitted to a nearby hospital. The car, according to reports, was completely destroyed. Polio Team workers in the Bajaur Agency are in a perilous position. The Tehrik-e-Taliban recently distributed pamphlets in which workers were threatened in no uncertain way if they continued their work in the region. Government needs to take action regarding this problem to prevent further attacks on innocent people and health workers. Appropriate protective measures by the government will enable health workers to do their jobs.
